David Hockney is a world renowned artist and is well known for using bright coloures in his paintings, similar to Julian Opie. Recently Hockney released a variety of digital paintings produced on an iPad. This method of producing paintings is fairly new for Hockney as most of his previous work is created with paint. Hockney discovered the power of digital painting five years ago when he created small artworks on his iPad ,using simply his thumb and proceeded to send them to all of his friends, family and collegues.
Hockney and Opies work never youst to be comparable but now Hockney is using digital methods o create his pieces more similarities can be drawn. Both Hockney and Opie use blocks of bright coloures encased in a black outline, this makes both of their artworks very bold and visually striking.
However ,although both Opie and Hockney use digital methods their methods and pocesses are very different, Hockney has replaced his paintbrush with his fingers and canvas with an iPad but the process of creating his pieces is still very similar.
Julian opie however uses almost no manual methods to achieve his work, instead completely digitalising the process of creating artworks.
